We offer a variety of Fashion Design and Sewing courses for both adults and youth/teenagers. Courses range from introductory, medium to more advanced sewers. All genders and age are welcome! Fashion and sewing is an art form in practice. We have suitable courses for you whether you are a hobbyist, fashion student or professionals who wish to strengthen your knowledge and skills.
Courses can be conducted in English, Cantonese or Putonghua
Individuals, small groups and organizations, all welcome to enroll !

1. Foundation Sewing Course (6 Sessions) Popular

For beginners

Lesson 1: Common hand sewing methods (very useful for alterations)

Lesson 2: How to operate standard home sewing machine. Basic & useful stitches. Basic fabric joining methods. Learn good habits. Avoid common mistakes in machine stitching.

Lesson 3 to 6: (Application): Make a basic garment: simple skirt, pants, top or dress (no lining)

During the process, student will learn fundamentals of body measurements, pattern making and machine sewing, eg.:

Install elastic bands

Install zippers, waistbands

Using Interface, how to press (iron)

Gathering ruffles

Sewing rolled hems, apply bindings using bias tapes.......

3. Garment Making Course (6 - 14 Sessions) Popular
3 Levels of Options:
(make one garment, choose own design):

Prequisite: basic hand and machine sewing skills.

A. Foundation - basic skirt, pants, simple top or dress. (No lining)

B. Intermediate - blouse, dress, skirt, jacket without collar, basic hoodie, dress-pants with zipper, pockets & waistband

C. Advanced -evening gown, fancy dress, lined structured jacket.

Learn body measurement, use your own patterns, or our patterns reserve
-
The level depends on the chosen garment style.

Foundation: 6 classes, 2 hrs each, total 12 hrs
Intermediate: 8 classes, 2 hrs each, total 16 hrs.
Advanced: 10 - 14 classes, 2 hrs each, total 20 - 28 hrs. -
Any add-on classes: $200/hr.
Garment Making Regular Course:

All levels suitable: choose your own style and size, appropriate for all skill levels

Learn body measurement, use your own patterns, or our patterns library

Must know basic hand and machine sewing. A plus if student has own machine to complete some simple tasks at home, so that class time is dedicated to skills requiring instructions.

Min. 6 lessons per booking (1 class/week on fixed day). Renewable bookings.

Course speed is based on individual ability, moving from simple to increasing complexity of garment. Student learns through hands on practice.

5. Cheongsam/Qipao Course (10 - 12 Sessions)

2 Levels of Options:
(make one garment, choose own design):

Prequisite: basic hand sew and machine operation skills.

A. Foundation - basic style, sleeveless, unlined qipao.
-
B. Intermediate - Include lining, with or without sleeves or with fancier designs.

We adopt mixed western and traditional tailoring techniques and tools (excluding traditional piping or Chinese frog buttons. We encourage students to be creative in modernizing the design of their own Cheongsam after acquiring basic skills; or even move up to more advanced courses of traditional artisanship.)

Foundation: 9 -10.5 classes, 2 hrs each, total 18-21 hrs
Intermediate: 8-9 classes, 3 hrs each, total 24-27 hrs. -
Student to bring all cotton fabric for the course

Homework: student should completel some simple basic tasks at home.

7. Fashion Draping Technique (6 Sessions)

Suitable for fashion school students, and those who are intersted in fashion design, or have basic knowledge and experience in sewing or working with patterns

When do you use draping method? Difference from 2D pattern making; and relationships between the two

9. Fashion Illustration Course (12 Yrs+ and Adults)

Suitable for anyone interested in fashion drawing and design

Pencil sketching of body form.

Sketching of body parts and various postures.

Rendering/coloring technique; using different mediums

11. Portfolio Course (Personalized)
Personal Portfolio is a prerequisit for application to Fashion Design courses in universities or post-secondary studies. We provide guidance and supervision to young students in portfolio preparation: concept development, planning, content, fashion creation, and presentation. The course is personalized according to individual interests and ability.

2. Enrichment Sewing Course (2 Sessions)

Suitable for students who have completed the Foundation Sewing Course, or those who already know basic hand and machine sewing.

Basic hand sew needlework (eg. buttons & hooks, mending tears, hemming) It's the secret to a beautiful garment.

How to use sewing machine; essential functions and stitches

Make one item of own choice: simple skirt, pants, top, apron, tote or draw-string bag.

4A. Regular Classes - Youth Group (1 class/week)

Suitable for all teenager beginners

Course content same as above, however the program and speed of progression can better match the age and ability of individual student. Lesson 1-6: Fundamentals. Lesson 7 onwards: Step up to Intermediate level skills

6. Pattern Drafting Course (5 - 12 Sessions)

Suitable for individuals with some garment making experience, and wish to design and sew garments independently in the future. Highly recommend serious sewers to take this course.

Body measurement method

Based on student's own measurement, draft Basic Block Patterns and various common commercial garment styles.

Industry standard pattern notations and labelling methods
-
A. Foundation: Basic Block Patterns (bodice, sleeves, skirt, pants, one-piece dress)

B. Intermediate: add - various styles of skirts, pants, collars
-
C. Advanced: add - various bodice styles, sleeves and collar styles, lady's fitted jacket.

D. Specific Style: Pattern of a specific style chosen by student NEW!

Pattern drafting is one of the most important modules for those serious about learning fashion design and garment construction. This course builds you the foundation of making patterns independently in the future.
-
Optional (add lessons): Make a mock-up fitting garment using toil from the origianl paper block pattern. Adjust and modify the toil into a final pattern that fits your body shape perfectly.

Optional (1 extra session): How to digitize patterns into computer file without industrial digitizer.

Foundation: 5 - 6 classes, 2 hrs each, total 12 hrs.
Intermediate:10 classes, 2 hrs each, total 20 hrs.
Advanced: 12 classes, 2 hrs each, total 24 hrs.

8. Fashion Design - Subtraction Cutting Technique (8 Sessions) New !

10. Fashion Upcycling/ Garment Remake

Must have basic sewing and machine operation skills.

Learn how to creatively make a new garment out of one or several old garments.

Bring your own old garments; apply creativity; brainstorm; develop new concept for a modified or new garment.

Instructor will discuss and guide you throughout the entire project

(5+ classes, 2 hrs each, total 10+ hrs. Depending on complexity)

Any add-on classes: $200/hr.
12. Tailor Made Classes (Flexible Sessions)
for Individuals or Groups
We can tailor make the course according to your own learning needs. Choose and combine various modules from the above lists.
We can structure tailored courses for Groups or Organizations/Schools in our spacious studio, eg. school holiday Workshops, after-class Hobby Activity.

2023 Teens Sewing Course (12-16 Yrs)
Terms and Conditions:
-Once course booking is confirmed and fee paid, no refund for cancellation will be made. All courses booked must be completed within 6 months. Any absent or incompleted lessons will be considered forfeited by the student.
-Please inform us as early as possible for rescheduling of booked classes. Rescheduling is free for weekday and daytime lessons. Evening sessions and Saturday sessions incur a Rescheduling Charge of HKD380/lesson.
- For excessive cancellation or defer of attendance, which causes disruptions to class scheduling, we reserve the right to cancel the remaining classes booked.
- To take sick leave, please notify us the soonest you can, and no later than 2 hours before class begins. Otherwise no make up class can be arranged.
-If you are not feeling well or may have a cold, please wear mask during class, and use alcohol hand sanitizer.
